Lecturer in Human Nutrition and Metabolism - REQ4063
Job description
The School of Applied Science (Division of Human Science) is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Human nutrition and metabolism. The successful candidate will be AfN accredited and will have experience in teaching, learning and assessing programmes in the areas of human nutrition and metabolism, sport and exercise nutrition and biochemistry, or combinations
thereof. Demonstrable high-quality research experience is essential, and willingness to develop activities in line with the research and enterprise objectives of the research centres within the Division will be advantageous. Experience of module management and course development will be considered of value.
In judging against the criteria below, the extent of experience and achievement will be matched to the anticipated level of the appointment.
Essential Criteria
* A postgraduate degree (preferably PhD) in Human Nutrition; Sport and Exercise Nutrition or equivalent.
* AfN registered Nutritionist.
* Peer-reviewed publications in human nutrition / exercise nutrition / metabolism or related disciplines.
* Experience with proposal/grant writing including that for PhD or postdoctoral studies.
* Knowledge of nutrient metabolism; nutritional interventions; metabolic diseases and nutritional assessment.
* Competent to design and run laboratory experimental sessions to support the development of student lab skills, projects, research and enterprise activities.
* Evidence of teaching experience at HE level that demonstrates excellence and innovation, including the ability to motivate and engage students, to challenge them intellectually and to facilitate their learning using a variety of learning and teaching methods, including e-learning.
* Knowledge of the contemporary context of nutrition science in relation to practice
* Evidence of current research and/or scholarly activity,
* Ability to liaise effectively with colleagues in multidisciplinary teaching and research and enterprise teams
* Competence in the use of ICT for teaching, research and administrative purposes,
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
* Membership of the HE Academy or a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (or equivalent).
* Evidence of securing research income.
* Experience in nutritional policy; nutritional responses to exercise and environmental cues; nutrition for rehabilitation
