The Division of Social Sciences comprises a team of research-active teaching staff dedicated to helping students to achieve their full potential and to realise their career aspirations informed by the division's commitments to social justice and global responsibility. These commitments underpin all our degrees, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to the development of students' academic skills and knowledge, as well as their engagement as active and critical citizens. All our undergraduate degrees encourage and support students to undertake a work placement and volunteering opportunities.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in History to teach on our exciting new suite of History degrees from September 2017. Applicants should have completed (or recently submitted) a PhD. Excellent communication skills, a passion for the subject area, an innovative approach to teaching, originality in research and a commitment to working productively as part of a team are essential qualities for the successful applicant.
The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high quality teaching in the areas of modern British social and political history and historical sources and methods. S/he will be expected to demonstrate an approach to teaching and research that is inclusive of diverse experiences. Applicants with other specialisms within history are also welcome. Applicants are also expected to be actively engaged in historical research and developing their research publications.
